Week 63

This week was great. Dara was baptized and confirmed, so that was great. We worked the rest of the week, but unfortunately, we weren't able to find new people to teach, but it was still a great week.

Last p-day when we were at home, we watched a movie called Charlie, which is an incredibly sweet church film that made me cry out of gratitude for the tender mercies that grandpa had in his last days of life. It was great and I was able to have a very spiritual experience with my companion (and yes, I wrote it all in my journal immediately after).

A few quick notes...transfers are on the 31st and I will probably be leaving, so I have no idea where or with who I will be for Christmas, so we will have to see (it also doesn't help that there is a transfer the 11th of December). I can't wait to get my package and see you all this Christmas!!!

I love you all sooooooo much and I hope that everything keeps going well this week for you. Be sure to send me pictures of everything especially Tucker being funny.

Sincerely,
Elder Jardine

P.S Happy Birthday, Grandmas!!!!! love you!!!!!!
P.S.S the dog is called xis (derived from xi-xi which is what he was doing) and he did exactly what tucker does in looking back to make sure we were still following him. ðŸ˜‚

Week 62

This week was good. We worked a lot and we had some success. I was able to do some more baptismal interviews which was fun. We were also able to work with a recently returned missionary which was awesome and we were able to learn a lot.

Today is a great day. We just got one of our investigators married and she will be baptized at 4 today. It will be Elder Taylor's first baptism, so we are super excited.

Thank you so much for the emails. I really saw how the Lord was able  to bless grandpa and the rest of us at the end of his life.

Keep me informed how things go and how your weeks progress.

Have a great week!!!!

Sincerely,
Elder Jardine

Week 61

My week was fine. I got better on Tuesday (Elder Jardine had a fever most of last week) so it was just a quick little thing. We weren't able to have the success we wanted this week, but we were able to find many great people who show promise, so we are excited for that.

I loved General Conference especially the talk of Elder Oaks (destroying those who think the church's stance on marriage should change) and Elder Holland (reminding us to be better). It was sad to hear about Elder Hales. He was truly a great man and we will miss him.

I received a call this morning at 7:15 informing me of grandpa's passing (Elder Jardine's paternal grandfather passed away October 1st.) but, all the same, your emails regarding the circumstances penetrate to my soul and for this I am grateful for God's plan for us.

This week to come, I will work as hard as I can to honor his name and will always remember him.

I love you all and pray that the Lord's hand will be in your lives continually.

Sincerely,
Elder Jardine

Week 60

Well, my week was interesting. So, technically, Elder Conceção and I were supposed to stay together, but Monday night at 10:20, we received a call saying that Elder Conceção would be going to another area and I would be staying (emergency transfer).

I am now a proud mother (I will be completing his training) to Elder Taylor from South Carolina. He is a great guy and we get along great. The reason for the week can be summed up by one word... WORK. We worked really hard this week, so hard that I currently have a fever.

This week will be interesting. We have zone conference and I now have an added pressure; the assistants challenged me to teach 7 new people this week to set the example for my district. I already have a plan in place, but if you could pray for our success, that would be great.

It is great to see how your week was and that the move was a success. I am so happy that all is well there and I hope that things just get better.

I love you all soooo much and I hope that you all have a great week and enjoy conference (I certainly will).

Sincerely,
Elder Jardine

Week 59

My week was pretty normal, although there were some highlights:
  • Divisions with the zone leaders this past Thursday. It was great. We worked and played magic and ate pizza (a basic division).
  • Wednesday we had an activity that we created. It was great because I got to throw a plate a whipped cream in my companion's face. It was an activity where we asked a question and the first to respond right got to put a plate full of whipped cream in the other's face. It was fantastic.
  • Saturday we went to a far neighborhood to try to teach some people. We went after an address only to find that the house was a small wall, a mail box, and a power line. When we were walking back, we found some kids playing on a broken car and started to talk to them. They FREAKED out when they learned that I was American and as we walked away, they screamed "EU FALEI COM UM AMERICANO" (I talked to an American). It was hilarious!
So those were the highlights of my week. Today we learn about transfers, so I am currently waiting for the call (dun dun DUNNNNN). I am excited.

It is great to see how your weeks went and as for Jessica's baby being a girl, I am soooooooo excited.

Continue to be awesome and have a fantastic week!

I love you all sooooo much and pray for you continually.

Sincerely,
Elder Jardine

Week 58

This week was great!! We really saw the Lord guiding us. Allow me to illustrate:
  • Tuesday- after a district meeting, we left to find someone to give a Book of Mormon. We talked to a few people, but didn't present it and then we talked to a man named Joaquim who said that he was going to talk to us because his life has been difficult lately. In short, we gave him the Book of Mormon and marked a day to teach him. Then, as we were walking, a man named Diego stopped his car and offered us a ride. We accepted and started to talk. Lo and behold, he is a less-active member who has a wife that is not a member. So there is a great teaching opportunity there.
  • Wednesday- we went and talked with our barber and we were able to show him the Restoration movie. He said he loved it and that he was needing it. Then we went to confirm lunch with sister Carmin and as we walked on her street, we saw a family at home. So we went and talked to them. They received us and we were able to teach them. Their names are Latisia and Wellington and they were very receptive. We learned that if we had come 20 minutes later, they wouldn't have been home. So that was crazy!!! After lunch, we were walking and a couple came to talk with us and what do you know... another less active and a non-member who wanted to come back to church!!!!!!!
  • Thursday- we finally taught Joaquim who said that he already knew that the Book of Mormon was true ðŸ˜±ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜±ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜‚.
  • Friday-we taught Joaquim again and he accepted a baptismal date and promised to stop drinking coffee!!!!!!
  • Saturday-was a normal day.
  • Sunday-we had ward conference and had 7 investigators at church. It was fantastic!!!! And we sang in the ward choir.
So that was my week and it was great. If you could please pray for these people, that would be awesome. Personally, I am fine; just working and starting to feel old. but I am happy.
It is great to see how your weeks are and hear all the exciting news. I can't wait to see what gender the baby is so I can tell people if I will have a sobrinho or sobrinha.
I love you and I pray that God may bless each and everyone of you. Have a great week.

Sincerely,
Elder Jardine

Week 57

Well, this week didn't go as we had hoped. Larissa denied her answer and doesn't want to be baptized and our other baptism that should have happened backed out because he didn't agree with no coffee. But we still hope to have at least 2 or 3 baptisms this month (Dara and Wendel for 23-9-17). I also had my first divisions with Elder Bello and Elder Chaves which was great another milestone in my new designation. I stayed with Elder Bello and my companion stayed with Elder Chaves. It was great.

Speaking of my companion... just a few notes: he is from Bahia up north. He is 20 years old and has five months in the mission and all around is a great guy.

It is good to hear how your weeks are progressing and hearing about all the change going on. Good luck with everything-school, dating, sports, work, the house, the move and the baby.

I love you all and pray that all goes well for you. Keep strong!!!!

Sincerely,
Elder Jardine
